It’s now easy to switch mobile providers through text

Prior to now if a mobile phone customer wanted to switch networks and keep their existing number they would have to go through their network provider and ask them for a PAC code. The authorisation code is then given to the new network provider the customer wants to switch to and gives the new network the power to transfer the customers existing phone number.

Ofcom says that when customers were speaking to their existing providers about requesting a PAC code user have been persuaded not to switch and questioned for their reasons. This new process prevents this from happening.

To switch network providers it’s now as simple as texting PAC to 65075 to instantly receive your PAC code from your mobile network provider along with details about making the switch. This process aims to make the switching process a lot easier for people to leave their current providers.
